WMG2027 Kansai Squash Entry Guide: How Beginners Choose the Recreational Class

A step-by-step explanation of age categories, A/B classes, SPIN, lottery, payment and final confirmation for WMG2027 Kansai squash.

This beginner-friendly guide explains how to enter squash at the World Masters Games 2027 KANSAI and how to choose the recreational class. Information checked on 4 September 2026. Deadlines, quotas, venues and schedules may change, so the latest WMG2027 and Japan Squash Association notices always take priority.

Important: the recreational class is not a free beginner trial. The squash guideline defines A: Open Class for players who have entered national championships or open tournaments, and B: Recreational Class for players who have entered friendship-level events. A complete beginner should not assume that B is automatically available. If you have played club friendship or exchange competitions, B may be the closer fit; when in doubt, ask the Japan Squash Association before submitting.

Squash is scheduled for 19–29 May 2027 in Kyoto at StandOut KYOTO and Kyoto Terrsa. 19 May is listed as the official practice/reserve day, with competition scheduled for 20–29 May. The quota is 230 athletes. Men and women each have A/B classes and 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+ and 80+ age categories. Age is calculated on 19 May 2027. You must be at least 35 on that date, and you may not select a younger category.

The practical entry flow is: open the “My Page” link in the accepted-email message; tap “Add Discipline”; search for “squash”; select Squash; choose Recreational Class, gender and age category; review the Sport Confirmation screen; tap “Add Sport”; then wait for the Entry Status result. Add @wmg2027.jp to your safe-sender list. If the email link is truncated, copy the complete URL from the message. Before payment, verify that the displayed name, gender and date of birth are yours.

After receiving the email saying that your provisional application has been accepted, open “My Page”. In Entry Status, tap “Add Discipline”, search for “squash”, and select Squash. Then choose Squash (Individual Match / your gender / Recreational Class), select your age category, tap Next, review the Sport Confirmation screen, and tap “Add Sport”.

The athlete fee is JPY 15,000 for residents in Japan and JPY 34,000 for residents outside Japan. The basic fee covers up to five disciplines; each discipline from the sixth costs JPY 2,000 more. Squash currently has no extra fee. Credit-card payment is available, and convenience-store payment is available only to residents in Japan.

After you tap “Add Sport”, My Page may show “Processing”. This is the waiting stage: provisional sport registration is complete and you are waiting for the official result or lottery. “Processing” and “Lottery” do not mean rejection or final acceptance. The Japan Squash Association has announced that squash entries exceeded the quota and may be decided by a fair lottery. After selection, complete payment and confirm that My Page shows “Entry completed”. Squash entry also requires an individual WSF SPIN registration; SPIN and WMG entry are separate procedures.

The current squash format is PAR11, normally best of five games; Plate consolation matches are best of three, with at least three matches intended per athlete. The final schedule, venue and format may change. Official enquiry: infowmg2027@squash.or.jp.
