World Premier Squash to Launch in August with AI-Driven Qualification

A new global squash competition called World Premier Squash (WPS) is set to hold its inaugural edition this August. Jointly developed by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and technology firm League Sports Co. (LSC), the league aims to combine elite professionals with a broader pathway open to aspiring players worldwide.
The first WPS season will feature 24 players in total, reserves included. Notably, eight of those spots will be filled through an AI-driven qualification system, giving players around the world a data-based route to share the court with top-ranked stars.
Embedding artificial intelligence directly into professional qualification is a first for squash. If executed well, the format could raise the sport's profile and open a fresh pathway from the amateur ranks toward the pro tour. Full scheduling and selection criteria are expected to be released in the run-up to launch.
